Bessie Williams

Mrs. Bessie L. Williams, 85, answered the Master’s call on Thursday, July 18, 2019, in Henrico, Virginia.  Her earthly journey began on April 1, 1934, daughter of the late Gardner and Mary Jones, of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Bessie met and married the love of her life the late Deacon John H. Williams.  This union was blessed with two beautiful daughters.  She moved to Glen Allen, Virginia, after the passing of Deacon Williams in 1991.  She was a faithful wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and prayer warrior.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Laura Chambers. Robert Jones, George Jones, Ruth Morris, Catherine Bassett, and Helen Jones, and her sister-in-law, Bernice Williams-Jones.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughters, Bonita Williams Hogue (Johnnie) and Joan Williams White (Ronald); her grandchildren, Kyron Washington, Lindsey Hogue Durden (Jonathan) and Sydney Hogue; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Durden   and Julia Durden;  her devoted niece and great-niece, Mildred Walker and Vanessa Walker-Cotman (John); other nieces, Michelle Jones-Kirkland, Jennifer Jones, Leona Burrell, Dorothy Hill (Johnnie) and Mary Bernice Vaughan (Steve); nephews, Roy M. Jones, Walter Jones (Mary), and Richard Bassett and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019, in Bethel Restoration Center.  Family and friends to assemble at the church by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Interment to follow in Hampton National Cemetery.  Mrs. Williams may be viewed beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of her service on Wednesday.
