Carol Smith Obituary

O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered, accept our prayers on behalf of Carol Ann Smith and grant her entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of thy saints; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

On Friday, November 1, 2019, our loving sister Carol Ann Smith, peacefully passed away in her sleep.  She was born on February 12, 1955, in New York, New York.  She loved the city and all the excitement it brings.

She was a free spirit with a Gypsy soul. She lived according to her own wishes and beliefs unconstrained by society’s conventions.  She fully lived life, enjoying spontaneity and coloring outside the lines.  Her colorful personality enabled her to make friends everywhere she went.  Carol had a passion for reading and learning, and loved good mystery reading at least one book a week, sometimes two.  She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. No one could tell a story like she could.  Carol also enjoyed R&B music from the seventies and eighties and especially loved the Delfonics.

Nothing could ever take the place of the love she had for her family.  One of many memories that touched and brought laughter to us all, was when she danced the night away at her brother Ronald’s wedding. Full of life and love for her family, she would not want us to shed tears but to have a big celebration in honor of the life she lived.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harding Smith Sr. and Rosetta Jackson Smith; and older brother, Otis Lee Jackson.  Carol’s memories will forever live on in the hearts of her sisters, Annette Joseph-Walker and Marcia Boyd (Vince); brothers, Morris Jackson (Dorothy), Harding Smith Jr, and Ronald Smith (Trinnese); aunt, Maurice Scott; devoted friend Mr. Milton Walters, who gave her unconditional love and helped to enrich her life; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Your words of comfort and expressions of kindness are greatly appreciated.

A memorial service honoring Carol’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019, in Whiting’s Chapel.  Family and friends to assemble by 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
