Curtis Horatio Franklin was born on December 10, 1954, to Carrie Franklin and the late John Byrd, in Richmond, Virginia. He gained his Heavenly wings on September 10, 2019, and went home to be with his heavenly Father.
At an early age, Curtis accepted Christ into his life. He graduated from the Virginia School for the Deaf, Blind & Multidisable, in Hampton, Virginia. Throughout his work career, he learned many vocational trades. He most recently worked for the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station for ten years.
Curtis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed helping his neighbors with anything he could do. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Julia Franklin, and sister, Valerie Carter. His precious memories will forever remain with his daughter, Ayesha Franklin; grandchildren, Myeisha Brown and Mikal Brown; mother, Carrie Franklin Wallace; sisters, Deborah Franklin, Angela Nazareth, Alice Faye and Jacqueline Clemons; nieces and nephews; special friends, Daniel Jackson, Barry Partlow, Steven Ashby, and James and Buddy Stokes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2019, in Whiting’s Chapel. Family and friends to assemble by 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Johhny Wallace, officiating. Mr. Franklin may be viewed on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his service.
