David Hawkins

On May 23, 1956, David Hawkins was born to the late Ernest Hawkins and Nancy Johnson, in James City County, Virginia. God received His angel back unto him at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, in Doctors’ Community Hospital.

At an early age, David accepted Christ into his life and became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. A lifelong resident of Williamsburg, he attended Bruton High School. After high school, he pursued a career in construction.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon Hawkins, Cheyanne Hawkins, and Ernest Hawkins. David’s memories will forever remain with his two children, David Reed and Ja’nai Dobson; grandchildren; siblings, Audrey “Ann” Hawkins, Robert L. Hawkins, James “Jermaine” Hawkins, Vinetta Hamilton, Ernestine Mangrum, (his twin) Juanita Bausley, and Maxine Hawkins; nieces and nephews, Vern Carter, Doris “Poochie” Morrow, Robert “Joe” Hawkins Jr., Doretta Hawkins, Raven Getting, David Hawkins, Leon Hawkins Jr, Patricia “Muffin” Hawkins, April Hawkins, Tina Wade, Jerry Hamilton, Vermont Hamilton, Jackie Hamilton, Gerald Johnson Jr., Melissa Lyons, Jamie Hawkins, Nevile Bausley, Nicole Bausley, Bobby Hawkins, Chris Hawkins, Tasha Toure, and Randy Hawkins.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, in Whiting’s Chapel. Family and friends are to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
