De’Borah Lucinda Davis, daughter of the late Ella M. Schanck-Beasley was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on March 12, 1954. She departed this earthly life and went to her heavenly home on November 19, 2019.
De’Borah served as a devoted Air Force Spouse for over twenty years; traveling the world. While traveling the world she obtained her Associates Degree in Child Care Development in Japan while providing childcare services to military service members’ families who had a financial hardship paying for childcare.
Upon returning to the states with her husband, De’Borah worked in Hospitality Services as an Executive Housekeeper for over twenty years; ending her career as a Regional Hotel Inspector for Choice Hotels in Williamsburg, Virginia.
De’Borah has been a member of the Red Hat Society for the past seventeen years. She loved to cook and enjoyed the company of her grandchildren. She loved to play candy crush, bejeweled, and various slot machine games. She enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes. Her favorite color was purple. Let’s not forget her dog “Sonic” whom she adored and loved dearly. In her spare time enjoyed communicating with friends and relatives via Facebook. She always looked forward to her yearly Sister’s Retreat; this was a time they used to reflect on their relationship. Her smile could light up any room. She loved decorating for the holidays, and her daily and weekly phone calls with her best friends Karen McQueen and Shirlee Stewart.
De’Borah’s fond memories will forever remain with her husband of 49 years, Douglas Davis Sr.; son, Douglas Davis Jr; two daughters, Diane M. Hooks (David) and Danielle M. Butler (Donell); grandchildren, Donta S. Butler, DeaJa’ D. Greenhow, Dontanya S. Butler, Jonte’ L. Marshall-Davis, Desree D. Hooks, Dionta S.D. Butler, DeShawn S. Hooks, and Jada M. Davis; great-grandchildren, Donyae’ S. Greenhow, Da’Kari S. Greenhow, Dionta S.D. Butler Jr., and Dayion Brown (Due March 2020); seven sisters and two brothers, Shirley Hart, of Savannah, Georgia, Phillip Shakur, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Barbara Jean Schanck and Emma Jean Schanck, both of Williamsburg, Virginia, Mildred Dunn-Biaggini, of Florida, Claudia Sullivan, of New Jersey, Christine Washington (Terrance), of Georgia, Alfred Heavens, of Williamsburg, Virginia, Linda Crooms (Connell), of Florida, and Abdullah Seifuddin ”Bobby”, of New Jersey; very special best friends, Karen McQueen, of Suffolk, Virginia and Shirlee Stewart, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 30, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 727 Scotland Street, Williamsburg. Family and friends will assemble by 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at 176 S. Hall Way, Newport News. Mrs. Davis may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of her service.
