Purcell Dobson

Purcell Dobson was born on August 18, 1941, the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Samuel Dobson, Sr., in Charles City, VA.  The Lord opened his arms and received her unto him on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. 

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Personal Savior and joined Parrish Hill Baptist Church.  She was educated in the Charles City County Public Schools.  She later moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, which she made her home.  She was employed by the late Judge William T. Stone, Sr. for many years, who became a kind and caring friend to her.

Purcell had a loving heart and kind spirit.  She was truly loved by her family and friends.  She always enjoyed visiting Parrish Hill Baptist Church, her family and friends whenever she could. 

Purcell was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lucy Dobson Byrd and Evelena Dobson, and three brothers, Ernest, Ben, and Johnny Dobson.  She leaves to cherish fond memories, her loving and devoted son, Tony Dobson, of Williamsburg, who always stayed by her side, and Alvin Banks of Charles City, who visited often; brother, Samuel “Bubba” Dobson, of Williamsburg; devoted nieces, Frances Dobson-Wrezinski and Faye Dobson; great-niece, Ja’Nai “Jenny” Dobson; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Parrish Hills Baptist Church.  Interment to follow in the Dobson Family Cemetery.  Family and friends to assemble by 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.  Ms. Dobson may be viewed 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
