On May 30, 2019, Robert Cliffton Godbolt Sr. answered the Master’s call in Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA. His life began on January 26, 1945, the son of the Bennie and Blanche Godbolt of Yorktown, Virginia.
He attended the York County public schools, graduating from James Weldon Johnson High School. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served his country from July 31, 1967, until being Honorably Discharged on March 1, 1971. He retired from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. After retiring he held other various jobs.
Godbolt enjoyed fishing and working outside in the yard. He was everyone's uber or taxi. He really enjoyed driving folks around.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Bennie Jr., and Kenny Godbolt. He leaves to cherish his fine memories, his loving wife, Lula Godbolt; son, Robert Godbolt Jr.; daughter, Pamela Godbolt; granddaughter, Mia Anderson (Brandon); greatgranddaughter, McKinsie Anderson; mother and father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Williams; sister-in-law, Crisandra Godbolt; three brothers-in-law, Arthur Williams (Cheri), Eugene Williams (Bernadette), Cornelius Williams (Manuela); special friends, Conway and Shirley Wynne; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service, with military honors, will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, in Whiting’s Chapel. Rev. Morris L. Randall, Sr., will be officiating. Interment in Virginia Veterans Cemetery will be at a later date. Family and friends to assemble by 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Godbolt may be viewed beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of his service.
