Abria Layne Jr. Obituary

Abria Conway Layne Jr, affectionally known as "Abe," was born June 29, 1968, to the late Thelma Lucille and Abria Conway Layne Sr., in Williamsburg, Virginia.  Abe was peacefully called to eternal rest on April 2, 2023, at home on his favorite couch.

He was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School system. Abe came from a praying family and gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He recommitted his life in 2004 and was baptized at the Gospel Power of God Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Wayne T. Simmons.  He later joined Hear the Word Bible Church in 2007 under the leadership of  Dr. Thomas E. Cunningham until the day he passed.  His favorite scripture was Psalms 23.

Abe was always gifted with his hands.  He could fix anything, such as radios, clocks, watches, ceiling fans, and light fixtures.  He was strong, smart, and always willing to lend a helping hand.  He possessed a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughing.  Abe loved family and enjoyed having cookouts and family gatherings. He enjoyed playing Spades and could hang with the best of them. Hanging out with his best buddy, his brother Chris, talking, laughing, and reminiscing about old times was one of his favorite pastimes. Cooking, especially his famous and much-requested seafood pasta salad, brought him great joy.  He loved his dogs, Luka and his long-lost Diesel.

At a young age, Abe cooked at many Williamsburg establishments. In the early 1990s, he moved to Maryland. He began working with various companies, including The Room Store, The Mail Bag Inc, and Ferguson Plumbing Supply, before finding his true passion as a Warehouse Manager at M.C.Dean Inc.

His loving memories will forever remain with his wife of twenty years, Tammy Layne; daughters, Toni (Demetrick) and Tyeshera (Jeremy); siblings, Marvin Henderson, Chris Layne, Cynthia Chatman (John), Kimberly Layne, and Paul Lane (Misty); grandkids, Tay’Jean, Tay’Vion, Jasmine, Jeremy, Jeremy (Dooda), Taniya, and Jevone; great-grandchild, Aziah; nephews, Christopher, Andre, Cameran, and Jordan; nieces, Latasha, Christal, Dominique, and LaQouna; his mother-in-law whom he affectionally called Mom, Clarice Hall; sisters-in-law, Linda Gross (Euguene), Thelma Dunston (Shawn) and Debbie Thomas; brothers-in-law, Andy Reid (Brittany), Vincent Reid, and Timothy Reid (Lisa); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Not About Me Ministries.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the services.  A wake will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
