Alain Jean-Pierre Rigal, 74, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2023.
Alain was born on May 29,1948 in Paris, France a son of Annette Pochonet Rigal and Francois Rigal.
Alain was the President of PRESUS INC., a consulting firm specialized in Strategic Management.
In 1984 Alain was the UNITED NATIONS' Treasurer of UNICEF, the well-known agency working for children worldwide, with a budget of over $1.5 billion denominated in 115 currencies.
Alain was a director of Banque Rothchild Paris where he oversaw the operations of the bank in Europe and the USA. He started his banking career with the Far Eastern Division of Banque lndosuez in Bangkok and Paris.
Alain graduated with Honors from the lnstitut Superieur de Gestion (I.S.G.) Paris, with a Baccalaureat Mathematics and a Baccalaureat Philosophy. After graduation at 1.S.G. with a Master’s in Business Administration, in lieu of military service, he served as the French Commercial Attaché in Honduras CA.
Alain enjoyed 12 years in the Executive Partner Program at The Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary. He enjoyed sailing, golfing, skiing, and speaking 5 languages.
Alain was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Charlene; his loving daughters, Celine Sabourault and Emily-Anne Walker; his adoring grandchildren, Estelle, Celeste, Maxence, and Eleanor; and his sisters, Catherine, Francoise; and brothers, Didier, and Jean-Michel. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on June 2, 2023, at St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg.
