Alexander Frazier Sr. Obituary

Alexander Joseph Frazier, Sr., affectionately known as "Beefy," "Boo-Boo," "Suga Boo," and "Beef" to those who loved him, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on March 5, 1945, in York County, Virginia, Alexander was the sixth of twelve children born to the late Clara and Josiah Frazier, Sr.

He was a proud graduate of James Weldon Johnson High School, Class of 1963.

He married his high school sweetheart, Alice “Fayetta” Cowles Frazier.  This union was blessed with two children, Evelyn Frazier Thompson (Le'Hope) and Alexander Frazier, Jr. (Jessica). Together, they also lovingly raised his sister-in-law Sandra D. Jimmison as one of their own.

Alexander was a man of many talents. A passionate lover of music, he enjoyed singing and playing the saxophone. He founded and managed the band “Dark Shadows of Funk,” leaving a legacy of soulful sounds and cherished memories.

As a skilled tradesman and entrepreneur, he owned and operated Alex Economy Heating and Cooling, where he faithfully served many in the local community. Later, he continued serving others as a bus driver for the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools Transportation Department, where students affectionately knew him as “Mr. Frazier.” His presence brought comfort, joy, and safety to many young riders. In addition, he was well known for his handyman services, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Josiah Frazier Sr., his brothers, Josiah Frazier Jr. and Llewellyn Frazier, his sisters, Francena Williams and Clara Marie Jones, and his daughters, Evelyn Frazier Thompson and Sandra Jimmison.

He leaves to cherish his memory son, Alexander Frazier, Jr. (Jessica); eleven grandchildren, Renarda (Monchello), Alexis, Ashley, Eric (Jenny), Renika, Alexa, Sherod, Keith Jr., Malik, Jada, and Nyleah; twelve great-grandchildren, A’Sheanna, Dominique, Alonie, DeCha’Ney, Amore’, Elijah, Dekota, Aiden, Ashton, John, Grace, and Sergio; three great-great-grandchildren, Yh’uri, Eve, and Ava; four sisters, Margaret Frazier, Albera Louise Elliott, Brenda Jackson (Darren), and Patricia Jones; three brothers, Henry Frazier (Lucia), Emmett Frazier (Regina), and Wardell Frazier (Teresa); special and devoted friends: Alan Billups, Robert Johnson, Horace Jones, Paul Rodgers, and Floyd Melvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
