On June 21, 2020, God sent one of his angels to bring home for eternal rest our beloved Alice L. Berkley. Her life began March 7, 1937, daughter of Robert L and Vernell L. Berkley of Toano.
Alice was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined St. John Baptist Church, Toano, where she remained a faithful member. She was employed with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation; retiring from the Williamsburg Inn after more than 40 years of service.
Alice was a meek and humble person. She was truly a jewel to her family. She left an impression on those she came in contact with. She will be remembered for her sweet, kind spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Alice leaves to cherish fond memories her loving son, Ronnie Berkley Sr. (Shannon); grandson, Ronnie Berkley Jr.; step-grandchildren, Diamond, Davaun and Deontre Shelton; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Berkley; sister, Virginia Berkley, of Toano, Mary Berkley, and Bernice Lett, both of Williamsburg; two brothers, Kenneth Berkley and Carl Berkley (Viola), all of Toano; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2020, in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Ms. Berkley may be viewed from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, in Whiting's Funeral Home.
