Alice Lucille Evans

Ms. Alice Lucille Evans, daughter of the late John and Edmonia H. Evans was born on November 26, 1937, in Yorktown, Virginia.  She answered the Master’s call on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at her home in Yorktown.

Alice was educated in the York County School System and later served as a civil service employee, working as a housekeeper at Fort Eustis for twenty-five years.  She was also a cafeteria worker for the York County School System.

Alice enjoyed attending church and was a dedicated member of Grafton Baptist Church – Harris Grove for fifty-five years.  She attended church faithfully until her health declined.  Alice looked forward to fellowshipping with the Queen Esther Missionary Circle.

She enjoyed rides to Yorktown Beach and playing with her grandchildren.  Alice always encouraged her children to love and always do good.  She also loved and enjoyed talking with her daughters-in-law.

Alice leaves to cherish her precious memories, daughter, Cleo D. Evans (Jimmy) of Newport News; two sons, Deacon James D. Evans (Beverly) of Yorktown and Deacon Robby C. Evans, Sr. (LaChiga) of Newport News; four grandchildren, Malcolm Evans, Maurice Evans, Zamiyah Evans, and Robby C. Evans, Jr.; two sisters,  Dorothy L. Davis and Beulah E. Marshall, both of Yorktown; brother, John Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and caring friends.

Ms. Evans may be viewed from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Thursday in Whiting's Funeral Home.  A graveside celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020, in Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove Cemetery with Rev. Reginald N. Bagley, officiating.  Due to the current health pandemic, face masks and social distancing is required.  Facebook Livestream will be available at the start of the service.
