On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Alonzo Bartlett peacefully slipped away to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on May 28, 1960, to the late Ruth "Ruth-Mae" Bartlett-Green, in York County, Virginia. He was the oldest of five children.
At an early age, Alonzo accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a licensed truck driver and worked for Dan Daniels Distribution and C.R. England Trucking.
Everyone who knew Alonzo knew that he was a loyal Philadelphia Eagles fan. He faithfully wore his Eagles gear and was known to be a snazzy dresser. Alonzo enjoyed sports, fishing, and spending time with his sons.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories with his loving wife, April Cary; two sons, Alonzo D. Bartlett and Deontae’ Ashby; two sisters, Drusilla Pearson (Tim) and Gloria Mason; two brothers, Walter Oliver and Alfred Richards (Gigi); mother-in-law, Jessie Cary; devoted friends, Richard Harris and the Johnson family; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many caring friends.
A service to celebrate Mr. Bartlett's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022, in Whiting’s Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Bartlett may be viewed on Wednesday from 12 noon until the hour of his service. Facial coverings are required.
