Alvene "Vene" Denise Jones-Johnson

On Friday, October 18, 2024, God called our beloved Alvene "Vene" Denise Jones-Johnson to eternal rest at VCU Hospital in Richmond. She was born on August 13, 1965, to Rosa and Samuel T.  Jones Jr. in Williamsburg, VA.

Alvene was educated in the Williamsburg/James City County Public School System and worshiped at Chickahominy Baptist Church.

Alvene is preceded in death by her sister Lisa Rogers. She leaves to cherish her fond memories her husband Eugene Johnson; children, Takeya "Keya" Jones, Taneka "Nene" Jones (Lamont), Damien Jones (Chandler), Ebony Jones, and bonus child Cameron Jones; three stepchildren, LaToya Christian, Novell Johnson, and Aaron Johnson; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; parents, Rosa and Samuel T. Jones Jr.; sisters, Linda Hankins (Ronnie), Angela Youssef, Pamela Jones, Zina Cook (Gerald), Joy Jackson, and Sandra Jackson; brothers, Samuel Anthony Jones (Alice), Kirk Jones, and Earl Mason; special friends, Gloria Allen, Robin Carter, and Joyce Greenhow; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.

A Homegoing service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Chickahominy Baptist Church. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.  Mrs. Johnson may be viewed on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
