Amahl Irad Sherrod Stafford Hodge

Amahl Irad Sherrod Stafford Hodge, 32, of West Point, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026.  Born on December 9, 1993, he was the son of Vanessa (Hodge) McKennon and the grandson of the Reverend Vincent Stafford Hodge, Sr. and the late Martha Lee (House) Hodge.

Amahl grew up in a home surrounded by music and became an accomplished violinist, frequently performing across the Tidewater region. After high school, he studied in New Orleans, married, and traveled to his grandfather’s native Anguilla, ultimately returning to family and friends in West Point.  He worked for several local employers, including Amazon and Lego.

He was an avid Cowboys fan and enjoyed friendly debates with those he loved the most. His mischievous spark and endearing heart will be missed by all who knew him. 

He will be remembered for the love he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the precious memories he created with those he loved.  Though his time with us was short, the impact of his life will continue to be felt for generations to come. 

In addition to his grandfather and mother, Amahl is survived by three uncles, Vincent Hodge Jr. (Marina) of Alexandria, VA, Dwayne Hodge (Teresa) of Williamsburg, VA, and Ivan Hodge (Julia) of McLean, VA; his brother, Gregory McKennon of Durham, NC; his sister Alona Jordan of Durham, NC; and his beloved cousins, Terrell, Kelcey, Devonte, and Mia.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, followed by the Burial of the Dead rites in Sunny Slope Cemetery.  Amahl may be viewed on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Amahl Hodge to: the American Heart Assoc. and the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra Instrument for Kids.
