Anita Lucinda Jefferson

Ms. Anita Lucinda Jefferson was born on September 25, 1936, to the union of the late Eddie G. and Anita G. Jefferson, in Grafton, Virginia.  She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Virginia.

At an early age, Anita accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Grafton Baptist Church in Harris Grove, Virginia.  She always enjoyed working with the Church Aide Ministry and looked forward to their meetings, anniversary programs, and fellowships.  She was a faithful member until her health declined. 

Anita was educated in the York County Public School System, where she attended York County Training School and graduated from James Weldon Johnson School in 1955.  She worked for the United States Air Force and Army for 57 years.  Her most current position was a Custodial Supervisor, for Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.  Anita’s accomplishments culminate a long and distinguished career with the United States Government and reflect great credit upon herself and the United States Army and Air Force.

Anita was preceded in death by her siblings, Oscar Jefferson, Lillian Thornton, Elizabeth Robinson, Daisy Woolard, Charles Jefferson, Sr., and Willie Jefferson, Sr.  She leaves to cherish her precious memories one sister, Delores Pride (Edwin); two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jefferson and Shirley Jefferson; special niece, Valerie Jefferson; special nephew, Nicholas Jefferson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and caring friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.  Interment to follow in Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove.  Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial coverings and social distancing requirements.  Facebook Livestream will be available at the start of this service.  Ms. Jefferson may be viewed on Monday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of her service.
