Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Ann Elizabeth Christian, has left an empty place in our hearts.
On Monday, July 5, 2021, God saw fit to send one of his angels down from heaven to claim one of His own from labor to rest.
Ann attended Morrison High School. In 1949, George Washington Carver school was built to replace Morrison.
Ann was employed at the famous “Dawson” restaurant for many years. After the restaurant closed, she was employed at the NCO Club, Fort Eustis until she retired.
Ann was always quiet, mild-mannered, and showed love to all, but make no mistakes she was not a pushover. Let it be known that Ann would get the situation straightened out and move on. She was a great cook and loved feeding her family and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Elvoy Christian; four sisters, Barbara, Nannie, Alene, and Doris; and three brothers, Theodore, Eugene, and Cecil “Skippy”. She is survived by her loving and supportive children, Cheryle Watson of North Carolina, Bruce Christian, Don Christian, Wanda Seals (Frank), and Miriam “Tina” Pickett (Darren), all of Newport News; her very caring and “TLC” great-granddaughter, Danielle, who cared for Ann every day during her illness. When Danielle called out to her “Gramma”, Ann gave a response in her own way, however, Danielle understood her. She is also survived by her grandsons, Bruce Christian Jr., Don Christian Jr., and Dwayne Watson; granddaughters, Latrice Christian, Shané Jones, and Ebony Seals; great-grandchildren, Kyaira Watson and Major Christian; great-great-grandchildren whom she was very fond of and brought smiles to her whenever they visited, Sa’mir, Amari and Jody; three sisters, Edee Cheeseman (Robert), Elinor Rowe and Elvoy “Cissy” Lindsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Ms. Christian may be viewed from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
