On Monday, October 23, 2023, our beloved Annie Teresa Jones Brown went on to her eternal home to be with the Lord. She was born on March 30, 1939, to the late Joseph and Mary Marie Jones.
She was blessed with over 64 years of marriage to Frank Brown. To this union, two sons were born.
At an early age, Ann joined St. John Baptist Church, Toano, Virginia and later joined her husband at Angel View Baptist Church, New Kent, Virginia where she was active in the ministry, until her health began to fail.
Ann was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools and graduated from Bruton Heights School in the Class of 1957. She later attended Cosmetology School. She was employed at The Wythe Candy Factory in Lightfoot, Virginia where she had over 20 years of service.
"Ann", as she was affectionately called, was truly a woman of God. She could get her “shout on” like no other and wasn’t ashamed to praise the Lord. She loved reading her Bible and always had encouraging words for anyone she talked to. On Saturday mornings, her and her best friend, Annette Floyd, would catch all the yard sales. Ann and Frank traveled to Nuremberg, Germany and took several cruises. She also loved working on word puzzles. Ann was an awesome wife and mother and loved her family dearly.
She is preceded in death by her son, Frank Brown Jr., and four younger siblings, Thelma Elliott, Joseph Jones Jr., Alexander Jones, and William Jones.
Precious memories will forever remain with her devoted husband, Frank Brown; son, Tony Brown (Elaine); sister-in-law, Veola Jones; special nieces, Nona Carter and Na’Dana Smith; special nephew, Kingston Gray; special friends, Willie and Annette Floyd and Calvin and Doris Cheek; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A service to celebrate Annie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mrs. Brown may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service.
