Annie "BIP" Iva Shackleford was born on February 7, 1937, the the late David and Annie Mason, in Toano, Virginia, and departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 15, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Saint John Baptist Church in Toano Virginia. She was a part of the hospitality committee where she was well-known for cooking. On November 17, 1967, Annie was united in holy matrimony to Len Ben Shackleford. They enjoyed twenty-seven years of marriage until his passing on March 3, 1995. Annie worked for the Hazlewood brothers for many years until her retirement.
Annie was also preceded in death by her sons, Junius Shackleford and George Mason; sisters, Corine Glasco, Jeanette Mason, Frances Cowles, Mary Mason, Marvel Mason, and Dorothy Travers; and brother David Mason Jr.
Annie's legacy will continue on through her children, Rebecca Jones, Carolyn Manning, Patrice Boyd, Linda Shackleford (Chris), Bobby Shackleford (Nancy), Charlotte Shackleford, Barbara Adkins (Russell), and Rolisa Erskines (Fred); bonus daughter Odessa Cary; daughter-in-law Linda Mason; sister Lenora Jones; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; special friends, Georgia Paige, Jack Wynne, and Ann Cary; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Noon on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Bethel Restoration Center. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mrs. Shackleford may be viewed on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
