On Monday, October 20, 2025, Anthony Linwood Taylor answered the Master’s call. His life began on April 1, 1968, the son of Irene Taylor Ruttley and Isaiah Taylor, in Williamsburg, Virginia.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot.
Anthony, affectionately known as “Gangster or G,” by his family and friends, was a man of many talents, from installing cable with Cox Cable Company to working construction, doing landscape at Ford’s Colony, detailing cars, and power washing homes. He knew that hard work would pay off. Gangster was the life of the party and the family comedian. If he wasn’t making you laugh, he would break out in a song or dance. There was never a dull moment around him because he loved to have fun. He would sit in the yard listening to music or watching the football game. He loved watching the NY Giants play, and he was going to talk mess to you whether his team won or lost the game. Gangster loved his mother Irene with all his heart. His sister Pat, daughter Keirra, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews knew how much he loved them. If Ganster knew you, whether you were a blood relative or a friend, you were his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isaiah “Bonkey” Taylor, and grandmother, Mary Alice “Big Mama” Taylor.
He leaves his precious memories with his daughter, Kierra Hawkins; mother, Irene Taylor Ruttley (Eric); sister, Patricia Berkley (David); grandchildren, Kamaree Landers, Keyniah Hawkins, and Malaysia Palmer; aunts, Mildred Taylor, Linda Moore, and Florence Roane; uncles, David Roane and Albert Roane; nephews, Lynell “Scoop” (Heather) and David Jr; niece, Latricia “Tweety”; special niece, LaQuanna Redcross; special great-niece, Nevaeh Berkley; special great-nephew, Lynden Taylor; a devoted cousin, Veronica Taylor “Macaroni and Cheese”; cousins, Jamie Taylor, Rosa Jackson, and Lawrence McRae; friend Russell Adkins; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Bethel Restoration Center, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m.
