On Sunday, December 21, 2025, Antione Ashby Sr transitioned into eternal rest at the Hospice House of Williamsburg, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories. His earthly journey began on February 27, 1959, to the late Albert Ashby Sr. and Annette Ashby White of Williamsburg, Virginia. He was the second of seven children and was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Ashby Jr. and Anthony Ashby.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. “Toine,” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Williamsburg/James City County Public Schools. Having a love for golf, it was fate for him to start his career at The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. Following this, he also worked at Kiskiack Golf Club and Stonehouse Golf Club, until his health began to fail. Those who really knew Antoine, knew he loved fishing as well as golfing with his son Ace, grandsons, nephews, and special friends. He was also an avid New York Giants fan. One thing he enjoyed more than his hobbies was his family and friends. No matter what he was going through, he smiled, stayed strong, and fought a good fight. Now, his battle is over. Although we will miss our beloved Antione, we find peace in knowing that he is resting in the arms of Jesus.
Antione was joined in holy matrimony to Lisa Cooper Ashby. Unto this union, they were blessed with three children. Precious memories will always remain in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. His daughters, Antoinette Ashby and Queen Ashby, both of Newport News, VA, and Antonavi Ashby of Williamsburg; son Antoine Ashby Jr. of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Knight, Christopher, Chyrie, Angel, and Naiari; sisters, Althea Duncan, Abby Brown, and Ava Haizlip, all of Williamsburg, VA; brother Alex Ashby (Sharnett) of Williamsburg, VA; uncle Carl Ashby Sr; aunt Phyllis Jones; special friend Patty; best buddy Bernie Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, and many caring and devoted friends.
A Memorial Celebration of life for Mr. Antoine Ashby Sr. will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Maceo Consolidated Lodge, 630 South Henry Street, Williamsburg, VA 23185
