Aretha Marleen Meekins

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, our beloved Aretha Marleen Meekins, better known as "Missy", transitioned into eternal rest. Her life began on November 13, 1968, as the daughter of the late Rosemary Meekins and William Graves. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Shicquita Meekins and La’Shae Meekins.

“Missy” was a very loving and kind person; the life of the party as many of you may know. Everytime you saw her, she always had a smile on her face and a word for you. She was a Dallas Cowboys Fan and “Fifty” was her favorite phrase. To know her was to love her and she will truly be missed but we find comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and she is at peace. God has her wrapped in his arms along with her children, which we all know her heart is filled with joy to be reunited.

Her loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Kelly Ashlock, Brad Meekins, and Deja Meekins; grandchildren, Ke’Asia Meekins and Ke’Vonta Meekins; sister Peggy Logan; brother Billy Meekins; niece Taniya Meekins; aunts, Sarah Meekins, Abbie Meekins, Lenora Meekins, Celestine Coles, Mildred Harris, and Vivian Graves.; special friends, Raquel Reed, Annette Ellis-Cherry, Shelly Saunders, Mary Barbour, Wendy Hawkins, and Selinda Hawkins; and a host of other loving family and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Ms. Meekins may be viewed in the chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
