On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, the Lord welcomed home his child Audrey Mae Green. Her life began on September 3, 1948, daughter of the late Alice Bertha and Milton Green Sr., in Williamsburg, Virginia.
At an early age, Audrey accepted God as her Personal Savior and was baptized at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir. She attended Bruton Heights School and loved dancing and playing softball. She worked at Eastern State Hospital for more than 25 years, retiring after an accident rendered her disabled.
Audrey was a loving mother to not only her own children but many others. She was called mom by many because if you came to her house, she was going to feed you and whatever you did not eat, she packed it up for you. Her home was always open and if you didn’t have a place to sleep, she would take you in. Her love and kindness will truly be missed but we know that she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her son, Troy Green, and brothers, Fred Green Sr. and Bernard Green Sr. Audrey’s memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Leroy Green (Melanie) and Glenda Green Washington (Reginald); adopted son, Ray Paige (Carla); six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Milton Green Jr. (Lois) and William Green (Josie); sister, Faye Manning; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021, in Whiting’s Funeral Home. Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial coverings and social distancing requirements. Livestream will be available for this service. Ms. Green may be viewed on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
