On the afternoon of Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Lord called to Himself his rose Barbara Ann Sedgwick Jacob to her eternal rest.
“Bobbie,” as she was affectionately called, is the eldest daughter of the late John Thomas Sedgwick and the late Gertrude Virginia Brooks-Peterson. Of this union, she is predeceased by her sister, Alice Marie Briddell, and is survived by her sister, Helen Sampson, and her half-siblings, Rebecca Sedgwick, Darryl Sedgwick, and Jason Sedgwick.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of sixty-five years Howard M. Jacob, Jr.; five children, Pamela Morris (Tony), Veronica Mitchell (Kevin), Howard R. Jacob III, Michael Jacob, and Vincent Jacob; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; aunt Margaret Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, VA.
