On Friday, October 27, 2023, God sent a host of angels to bring unto himself, our beloved Beverly Jean Harris for everlasting rest. She was born on December 5, 1952, to the late Gladys Wynn and Raymond G. Harris, of Williamsburg, Virginia. She was raised in the loving home of the late Gladys and James “Greyhound” Wynn.
At an early age, Beverly accepted Christ, was baptized at Spratley Beach, and became a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a 1971 graduate of James Blair, where she played field hockey and was a cheerleader. Beverly later pursued a career in food services working as a waitress at the Williamsburg Drug Company for thirty years. She also worked at the George Washington Inn as a waitress and hostess for twenty years and as a cook at Queen Anne Dairy for twenty years as well. She retired on January 31, 2018, after ten years of being a cook at the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.
“Hunnyman,” as she was affectionately called, was a fun and loving person. She would help anyone who was in need. Beverly was an avid San Francisco 49’er fan. She also loved to watch wrestling. She loved spending time and sitting around with her family and friends eating, listening to music, and having a good time. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
