Beverly Parker Obituary

Beverly Scales Parker was born on New Years Day, January 1, 1941, daughter of the late Willard and Ethel Ware Scales, in Reidsville, North Carolina.  At the age of 5 she received her first piano lessons from Portia Jenkins Crawford.  She later received Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at St. Paul United Methodist Church, in Reidsville; becoming an Associate Minister of Music at the age of 13. It was there that her love of music and devotion to Christ was developed.

She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville, NC.  She continued her education at Virginia State University, where she met the love of her life David Leon Parker.  She later transferred to North Carolina A&T State University where she graduated with degrees in Education and Music Performance.  She was employed as a Teacher with the Williamsburg-James City County Public School System.  She retired from Berkeley Middle School with more than thirty-five years of dedicated service.

She balanced her work life and spiritual life.  She was the Minister of Music at various churches of multiple faiths to include St. Paul United Methodist Church - Reidsville, NC, the Historic First Baptist Church - Williamsburg, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church - West Point, First Baptist Church - Hockley, Union Baptist Church - Williamsburg, and Kimberly Park Baptist Church - Winston Salem, NC.

On Monday, June 8, 2020, the Lord dispatched his Angels to her residence, where she was surrounded by her children.  Their assignment was to tenderly close Beverly’s eyes and transport her spirit to her Heavenly home to be reunited with her husband David Leon Parker and first-born son, Darryl Kennon Parker.   She now rests peacefully with her Savior and Redeemer.   We celebrate the life of Beverly Scales Parker.  Her memory will serve as a vivid reminder of the promise and possibility each new day brings.

The remembrance of shared love brings solace to her daughters, Beverly Davene, of Chesterfield, VA and Dionne Michelle, of Winston Salem, NC; son, Don Viccanio (Cadrina), of Richmond, VA; grandsons,  David Joseph and Drew Miles Augustus, of Richmond, VA; sister, Faye Redd (Maurice) Winston Salem, NC; beloved pets, Deja, of Winston Salem, NC and Peach, of Richmond, VA; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
