Bishop Virginia Lue Easter Fitts

Bishop Virginia Lue Easter Fitts transitioned from this earthly life to heavenly rewards on Thursday, November 16, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Gray of Sussex County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her former husband Horace Thomas, Sr., and two sons, Horace Leon Thomas, Jr and Ronnie Lee Thomas.

She retired from Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia.

She embraced the role of motherhood with grace, raising 11 children with love and resilience. Bishop Fitts was a devoted Christian woman who touched the lives of many and her journey led her to a profound faith.  She was a Bishop of Holy Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Newport News, VA, spreading the teachings of compassion and kindness.  Her legacy lives on through her large, close-knit family and the countless individuals she inspired. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared.

Her loving memories will forever be cherished by her husband of forty years, Willie Lee Fitts; two daughters, Ms. Shirley Thomas-Davis and Ms. Sharon Thomas; four sons, Mr. Elton Thomas, Mr. Reginald Thomas, Mr. Eric Thomas, and Dr. Moses Thomas; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A service to celebrate Bishop Fitts’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2023, at. Whiting’s Funeral Home.  Interment to follow in Swan’s Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Spring Grove, Virginia.  Bishop Fitts may be viewed on Monday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of her service in the funeral home.
