On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, our cherished husband, beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, and friend, Bruce Alonzo Taylor, affectionately known as “Henry,” peacefully entered eternal rest at the Richmond VA Medical Center, in Richmond, Virginia. Henry was born on November 6, 1954, to the late Oliver Lee Taylor and Carrie Marie Jones Taylor.
He attended the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools before enlisting in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Henry worked several years at the Naval Weapons Station/Camp Peary/Cheatham Annex before working for and retiring from Anheuser-Busch Williamsburg.
At an early age, Henry joined Zion Baptist Church, Lightfoot.
Henry enjoyed being with family, listening to old-school music, and making his famous seafood salad.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie M. and Oliver Lee Taylor, and brothers, Willis “Buck” Taylor and David Taylor.
Henry is survived by his faithful wife of thirty-five years, Barbara A. Taylor; loving son Gary A. Taylor; sister Carolyn Wynne; brothers, Charles “Chubb” Taylor (Yvette) and Milton “Wardell” Taylor (Sonia); uncle Horace Jones; foster sister Myrtle Lee Melvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Whiting's Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honor to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
