CMSgt. James Edward Holmes Sr., USAF, Ret.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, CMSgt James Edward Holmes Sr. transitioned to his heavily home. On November 2, 1951, he was born the sixth of thirteen children to the late Willie E. and Fannie B. Holmes, in Jamestown Louisiana. 

James graduated from Ringgold High School in Jamestown, Louisiana with the class of 1971.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, retiring after twenty-eight years of service.  After retirement, he worked fifteen years with Thomas Nelson Community College.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Joe and Bobby Ray, sisters, Carrie, Betty Lou and Jessie B., father and mother-in-law, Deacon Percell and Deaconess Irene Brown.  His loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Joyce R. Holmes; son, James E. Holmes Jr; and grandson, Jalen Holmes; goddaughter, Dr. Chantee Earl; brother, Esley (Roberta); sisters, Willie Mae (Isaac), Mattie (Thurman), Honey B. (Herman), Ruthie, and Mary (Keith); devoted aunt, Ruth Holmes; loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2019, in Whiting's Chapel.  Interment with Full Military Honors to follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Mr. Holmes may be viewed on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of his service.
