Caroline Woodley Mason quietly entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Caroline was born on October 11, 1941, to the late Aline Woodley Wallace in Surry, Virginia.
She graduated from LP Jackson High School in 1960 in Surry, Virginia, and attended Norfolk State University.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and became a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Surry, Virginia, and later became a member of Saint John Baptist Church when she moved to Williamsburg, Virginia. She was a faithful member and loved to serve in the Adult Ministry and many Women’s Day Committees. She also served in the capacity of Chairman, Co-Chairman, and Carvers Garden Captain.
On November 9, 1963, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Richard Mason. Unto this union, they were blessed with four loving children.
Caroline was employed at Eckerd Drug Store, formerly called Treasury Drug. After 21 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1997. She then worked part-time for several years at K-Mart in Williamsburg. Prior to working for Eckerd Drug, Caroline was an entrusted caregiver for a plethora of children in the community of which she had many fond memories.
She was affectionately called Mother, Muma, Madre, Lena, Sweet Pea, and Penelope by her children.
Caroline enjoyed spending time talking with family, friends, and strangers. Family dinners, scrapbooking, and being a member of the Phenomenal Sisters Book Club were her passions. Caroline loved traveling with her family on car trips and cruises to exotic locales, far removed from her native Surry. Caroline was the family photographer. She has organized thousands of pictures chronicling events and special family moments all organized and lovingly preserved.
Caroline was preceded in death by her grandson Brandan Earl Fowler; and siblings, June Woodley DeMyers, Barbara Crump, Lynda Darden, and Robert Brown.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories with her loving husband of sixty-one years Richard Mason; devoted children, Karen Renee Mason, Kathy Regina Mason, Richard Edward Mason (Evelyn), and Rosalyn Yvette Mason; grandchildren, Bryce Edward Mason and Zoe Micaela Mason; great-granddaughter Mia Capri Cook; siblings, Nancy Morrison, John Claiborne (Matricia), Thomas Wallace (Bettie), Loretta Wallace-Townsend, Carrie Taylor, Modusta Wallace (Maylin), Allen Wallace, Sharon Taliaferro (Chris), Alvin Wallace (Tiny), and Virginia Carter; and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends. A special thank you to her devoted sister Nancy Morrison who tenderly cared for her during her illness.
