Catherine “Baby” Holloway Robinson transitioned to eternal rest on June 21, 2022. She was born on April 3, 1942, in Surry, Virginia, to the late Isaac Blizzard and Mary Holloway. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Robinson; son, Lloyd Robinson, Jr. (LaTera); and siblings, Joseph Holloway, Sr. (Alberta), Walter Holloway, Sr. (Mary Florence), Frank Holloway, Jr. (Ethel), Justine Williams, Novella Mason (Mike), and Margaret Holloway (Perry).
At an early age, “Baby,” as she was affectionately called, was baptized and joined Popular Lawn Baptist Church, Surry, Virginia. Later in life, she relocated to Williamsburg, Virginia, and joined New Zion Baptist Church. She was a member of the Senior Choir, the Mass Choir, the Volunteer Choir, Usher and Greeters Ministry, and the Lydia Dorcas Creative Sewing Circle. She also volunteered to assist in other church activities and traveled on church trips.
Catherine was a self-taught seamstress. She made many of her own clothes and often made items, especially pajamas, blankets, and pillows for her grandchildren and friends. She was employed by Hancock Fabrics and retired as a Housekeeping Supervisor after twenty-two years with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
She was an encourager to many; she enjoyed baking and gardening and often shared advice about gardening and caring for houseplants.
Catherine leaves to cherish her memories, children, Angelia Robinson, Troy Robinson, Sr., Dollecia Robinson, and Rodriquez Robinson; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Veronica Newby and Isaac Blizzard, Jr.; daughter-in-law, LaTera Robinson; sisters-in-law, Mary Florence Holloway, Virginia Canady, Louise Douglas, and Rebecca Robinson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, June, 28, 2022, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Ms. Robinson may be viewed on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of her service. Facial coverings are required.
