Celestine "Chubby" D. Piggott

Celestine D. Piggott's earthly journey began on February 6, 1961, daughter of the late Shirley Piggott Sr. and Ethel Lee Cuffie Piggott.

Born and raised in Williamsburg, Celestine was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools.  She retired from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and later worked for the Williamsburg Landing.

“Chubby”, as she was affectionately called, was well known and loved in the Mooretown, Croaker, and Highland Park communities.  Her smile and sweet personality would lighten up the room.  She was always positive and upbeat; offering an encouraging word to everyone in her presence.  She will be greatly missed but we find comfort in knowing that she now rests from her labor.

On Thursday, August 27, 2020, Celestine finished her assignment here on earth.  She now joins her parents; sisters, Elvira Piggott and Ethel Mae Hamlet; brother, Micheal B. Piggott; and dearest friends, Juanita Clark and Lorraine Tillman on their eternal journeys.

Her precious memories will forever live in the hearts of her children, Nichole “Nikki” Piggott (Emmett Jr.), Alphonzo “Fonzie” Piggott (Ashly); grandchildren, Keron Frazier, Trinidy Piggott, Satin Piggott, Jamal Piggott, and Jordan Piggott; brother Shirley “Junie” Piggott Jr. (Beasley); nieces, Latasha Piggott-Canady,  Sharnell Piggott-Fitzgerald, Kiya Piggott, and  Shawanda Little; nephews, Larry Hamlet Jr., and Antoine Piggott; devoted friends, Sylinda Piggott, George “Nooney” Piggott, Paulette Harrell and Charttie Beasley; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Whiting’s Chapel.  Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance.  Face covering and social distancing is required.  Facebook Livestream will be available for this service.  A walk-through viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
