Charles Armistead Jr. Obituary

Charles Oliver Armistead, Jr. was born on January 10, 1964, at the U.S. Army Base at Fort Eustis, Virginia to Hester Ann Paige-Armistead and the late Charles Oliver Armistead Sr. On Thursday, December 31, 2020, God called him from labor to reward, answering the Master’s call in Columbus, Ohio.

Charles graduated from St. John the Baptist High School, where he was an outstanding member of the racquetball team.  After graduation "Junior" joined the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in the Country of Panama.  During this time he became fluent in speaking the Spanish language.  After being discharged honorably from the Army, "Junior" moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he lived until passing away.  He was employed by Imported Enterprise, LLC in Columbus, OH and enjoyed driving to various interesting places to deliver goods.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his son, Emmanuel Armistead and daughter, Kilee Armistead, both of Columbus, OH; grandson, Bennett James Armistead of Columbus, OH; mother, Hester P. Avery (Charles) of Yorktown, VA; three sisters, Bridgette R. Armistead and Crystal L. Hedgebeth, both of Columbus, OH, and Carrie Armistead of Canada; one niece, Connie Hedgebeth; three nephews, Xavier Hedgebeth, Hunter Waits both of Columbus, OH, and Joel Waits (Izzy) of Accokeek, MD; step-sister, Shree Avery of New York; four step-brothers, Douglas and Michael Avery, both of New York, Eric Avery of North Carolina, and David Avery of Florida; four aunts, Cynthia A Bagley (Reginald) and Evelyn Wright, both of Yorktown, VA; and Corine Banks (Hezekiah) of Newport News; uncle, Thomas R. Paige; three cousins, Adrienne, Stacy, and Reginald; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Whiting's Funeral Home.  Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial coverings and social distancing required.  Facebook Livestream will be available at the start of the service.  Mr. Armistead may be viewed from 9:30 a.m. until the time of his service on Saturday.
