Charles E. Harris of Williamsburg, VA, was called home to eternal rest on December 5, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. His life began on October 31, 1937, as the son of Mary James.
Charles loved the Lord and was a proud member of his church. He dedicated many years to working for the City of Williamsburg.
He found happiness in the simple pleasures. He loved spending time with family and friends. He could light up any room he entered with his big smile and warm soul. He will be remembered for his faith, generosity, steady spirit, and the love he gave so freely. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, and his legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Although his passing has brought deep sorrow to his friends, family, and community, his life will be remembered with gratitude, warmth, and admiration.
Charles was preceded in death by his sons, Jasper, Jerry, and Harrold; his mother, Mary Harris; and brother, William Harris.
Charles greatest memories will forever remain with his loving wife, Vivian Graves; children, Telly Harris (Christina), Jerome Graves (Sherri), and Arlene Ashby (Rickie); grandchildren, Taliyah, Telisha, Jazzy, LaTasha, Jasper, JJ, Jasper Jr., Kaiden, Arianna, and Pricilla; sister-in-law Mildred Harris; and best friends, Dallas Graves and Carlton Brooks; and a host of family and friends.
A service to celebrate Charles's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Whiting's Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
