Charlotte Chisman-Green Obituary

With profound sadness and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Charlotte D. Chisman-Green, who departed this life peacefully at home on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the age of 62.

Charlotte was born on October 10, 1963, to Clarence L. Chisman and the late Carolyn Blow-Readen (1992). From an early age, she was known for her warm heart, unwavering work ethic, and the radiant smile that could brighten anyone's day.

A proud graduate of Denbigh High School, Class of 1982, Charlotte dedicated much of her life to serving her community. She faithfully worked for Newport News Public Schools and Newport News Parks and Recreation. Even after retiring from Newport News Public Schools, her commitment to serving others led her to continue working with the school system she loved.

Charlotte was a devoted member of Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove, where she faithfully served as both a Sunday School teacher and an usher. Her faith was reflected in the kindness and compassion she showed to everyone she met. Charlotte truly never met a stranger. She welcomed everyone with open arms, treated others like family, and left a lasting impression through her loving spirit, infectious smile, and generous heart.

Family was the center of Charlotte's life. She was the beloved wife of Linwood A. Green Sr. and a devoted mother to daughter Tiffany Chisman and son Terrell Chisman. She was a proud and loving grandmother to two grandsons, Demarion Aursby and Adrian Clark, and one granddaughter, Ariana Chisman, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She also lovingly embraced her bonus sons, Linwood A. Green Jr., Chris Green, Lionel Pridgen, and Nathaniel Green as treasured members of her family.

Charlotte also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Thelma Chisman, Tracey L. Dooley (Fred), and Karlene Greenhow (Jermaine); her brothers, Clarence L. Chisman Jr. and Deon Cooke (Latasha); along with a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless caring friends whose lives were touched by her love and kindness.

Outside of her work and service, Charlotte enjoyed watching football, faithfully cheering on her favorite team—the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders. Whether spending time with family, serving her church, or encouraging those around her, she found joy in making others smile.

Charlotte's legacy is one of love, faith, service, and compassion. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and a family forever grateful for the time they shared with her. Though she will be deeply missed, her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."

A service to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held at noon on Friday, July 3, 2026, in Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove, with a viewing starting two hours prior to the service. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
