Charlotte Louise Stone

Charlotte "Louise" Stone passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. She was born on October 12, 1934, to the late James and Mary Jane Thompson in Charles City, Virginia.

Louise attended school in Charles City County.  She later moved to Williamsburg where she met her late husband, Robert Stone Sr.

Professing her faith in Christ, she became a long-time member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Charles City. She exemplified putting God first, family second, and extending love to friends. Her faith was her anchor in life, and her love for family and friends enriched her journey. Her willingness to help those in need reflected her Christlike compassion.

Louise’s heart overflowed with kindness and generosity. She was always willing to offer a plate which demonstrated both her love for cooking and desire to care for those around her. The legacy she leaves extends beyond her cooking skills. Her passion for raising children, whether her own or from the neighborhood speaks to her nurturing spirit. She was the unsung hero of “potty training” dawning her the title of the “Potty Whisperer!”

Although she has passed on her memory lives on through the stories and memories shared by loved ones. The impact she had during her 89 years will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. As we honor her memory, let’s celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. May her kindness, faith, and love continue to inspire us all.

Louise is also predeceased by her sons, James Coleman and Robert Stone Jr.; two grandsons, Terrence "Tee" Stone and Edward “Tom” Stone; and brother Earl Wade Sr.

Louise’s surviving family members are a testament to the love she poured into their lives. Lovingly referred to as “Ma, Granny, Claw, GG, and Ms. Daisy,” her legacy lives on through each of them, her sons, Eric Stone (Lisa) and Gene Stone; daughters, Sharon Davis, Michelle Mosley (Joe), Debra Sinclair (Glenn), Bridgette Sullivan (Andre, who was like a son), Leslie Dillard (Douglas), Rachel Dupree (Floyd) and Tammie Baldwin (Anthony); eighteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; sister Vernice Wade; cousins who were like sisters, Marian Jones, Fannie Bartlett, and Lillian Wade; sisters-in-law, Dornella Stone Hill-Whiting and Harriet Stone-Fikes; two goddaughters, Kendra Richards and Tania Moore; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Homegoing Celebration for Louise will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Bethel Restoration Church. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mrs. Stone may be viewed on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Additionally, the family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 3 pm-7 pm at 6244 Weathersfield Way, Williamsburg, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg at 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA, or to the Riverside Foundation. Contributions to the Riverside Foundation can be mailed to 701 Town Center Dr, Newport News, VA 23606.
