I Have Fought A Good Fight
I Have Finished My Course
I Have Kept The Faith
II Timothy 4:7
Cheryl Renee Cooke answered the Mater’s call, and peacefully transitioned to Heaven on Friday evening August 14, 2020, at the Hospice House of Williamsburg. She was born on September 14, 1954, to the late Oscar Randolph and Bernice Smith Cooke, in Fort Know, Kentucky.
She was educated in the York County School System, graduating from York High in 1972. Upon graduating Cheryl hit the workforce full speed, as she worked two jobs for over thirty years. Be it Edward’s Ham Shoppe, the Christmas Mouse, or her beloved Ace Hardware, she loved her customers, and they loved her.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where she was a member for over forty years. She fully enjoyed singing with the Senior Choir and held the office of President for many years. In October 2014, she transferred her membership and joined the family of New Zion Baptist Church, where she remained a member until God called her home.
Cheryl’s precious memories will forever remain with her children, Brandon Cooke (Tasha) and Dedric Cooke (Djuanwa); grandchildren, Kayla Cooke, Aaliyah Cooke, J’Lynn Roane, Dedric Cooke Jr., Dhani Cooke, and Brielle Cooke; her siblings, Latricia Cooke-Eason, Deborah Gatewood (David), Oscar Cooke Jr., Kevin Cooke (Renalda), Darlene Romain (Arcelio), and Kirk Cooke (Shanee’); her bonus daughters, Ardana Berkley and Alisha Berkley; godchildren; and an army of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
