Christopher Jones Obituary

On April 30, 2025, Christopher Dale Jones transitioned into eternal rest. He was born on May 14, 1964, in Pensacola, Florida, to the late Alex Jones Sr. and Wilma Shelby Jones.

At an early age, he united in fellowship with Greater Union Baptist Church and accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Dr. A.J. King Sr. He was educated in the Escambia County School System and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School with the Class of 1982.

Christopher began his career with the United States Army, serving for twelve years. He then spent twenty-eight years with the U.S. Postal Service, accumulating a total of forty years in U.S. government employment. He continued to work until his health declined.

Though he loved all sports, football was his favorite.  He was an avid lover of the Dallas Cowboys.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bruce Jones, Mark Jones, Alex Jones Jr., and Reginald Jones, and a sister, Joan Belinda Milton; sister-in-law Arlene Rodgers; and brother-in-law Frankie Walker.

Christopher Jones is survived by his loving and devoted wife of thirty-three years, Monica Walker Jones; daughter Alexxis S. Jones; grandson Kyrie A. Eley; two godsons, Preston Armstead Jr. and Ferrod Foster; a goddaughter Khanya Bassett; siblings, Joseph Holmes of Pensacola, FL, Mertis McMillian of Williamsburg, VA, Craig Jones of Pensacola, FL, and Scott Jones (Denise) of Pensacola, FL; sisters-in-law, Min. Sherrie D. Jones of Enterprise, AL, Joyce Williams, Rosa Robertson, Delphine Bartlett, Wilnette Brooks (Dwight), and Maxine Johnson (Billy), all of Williamsburg, VA, Shirley Montague of Forestville, MD, and Shirley Jones of Pensacola, FL; brothers-in-law, Charles Williams Jr. (Phyllis), Willie Walker Jr., and Paul Rodgers of Williamsburg, VA; best friends, Benjamin “Clint” Walker and Andre Foster; special nephew D’Nikis Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends that were dear to him.

A service to celebrate Chris’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Bethel Restoration Center. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.  Mr. Jones may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
