“Her life was a beautiful memory;
Her absence is a silent gulf;
She’s asleep in God’s lovely garden
In the sunshine of perfect peace.”
On May 13, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, Otis "Wayne" and Linda Ward were blessed with a second child, a beautiful baby girl whom they named Cindy Diane Ward.
At the age of 13, Cindy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at The Way of the Cross Church where she was an active member of the Church’s Youth Choir.
She attended Huth Elementary School and received an Honorary School Diploma from Rich Central High School.
At the age of 16, while en route to her high school prom, Cindy was involved in a tragic car accident. She suffered a traumatic head injury which rendered her totally disabled for thirty-six years. During the remainder of her life, Cindy’s parents and brother Dwayne showered her with love and immaculate care in their home.
Upon the death of her father in May of 2023, Cindy and her mother moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to be with their maternal family.
On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Cindy passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Annie Ward; her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Banks; and paternal uncles and aunts.
Cindy leaves to cherish her memories her devoted mother, Linda M. Ward; loving brother, Dwayne Ward (Renee) of Florida; nephew, Justin Ward of Florida; grandfather, Mack H. Banks of Virginia; uncles; Mack R. Banks (Janet), Stanley Banks (Mattie), James Banks (Tine), and Major Banks (Tee), all of Virginia; aunt, Alice Altenor (Nick) of Virginia; great uncle, Elder Carl Roberts of Virginia; great-aunt, Amanda Roberts of Virginia; and many other loving relatives and friends.
“Nothing can separate Cindy from the Love of God.”
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Little Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Ms. Ward may be viewed beginning at noon on Thursday until the time of her service in the church.
