Cletis Antonio Cowles departed this life on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. His life began July 5, 1960, the youngest of four sons born to Vivian Frazier and the late Preston Cowles, in Williamsburg, VA.
Early in life, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot, VA. He attended school in Caroline County, graduating from Bowling Green Senior High in 1978.
"Chucky," as he was fondly known by family and friends, worked tirelessly in the food service industry his entire adult life, working his way up to management. He received many certificates of achievement for his hard work and leadership skills from many of the fast-food restaurants where he was employed.
Precious memories will remain in the hearts of his loving mother and stepfather, Vivian and Preston Frazier; devoted son, Antonio Cowles; brothers, Alonzo Cowles Sr. (Rose), Raymond Cowles Sr. (Jerrie), and Donald Cowles Sr. (Sharese); step sisters, Alberta Dandridge (Alonzo), Joyce Mclaughlin (Alvin), Annette Jones, and Patricia Jones; aunts, Laura Loftin ( Samuel), Julia Hopkins, Audrey and Mary Cowles, Joyce Piggott (Raymond), and Rosetta Bowman; uncle, Jesse Cowles Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Chucky's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Zion Baptist Church-Lightfoot. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Mr. Cowles may be viewed on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the church.
