Clifton Robinson, affectionately known as "Heavy," passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and steady love. Born and raised in the Highland Park neighborhood of Williamsburg, Virginia, he retired from Eastern State Hospital after many years of dedicated service.
Heavy was a man of principles and was humble, dependable, and deeply rooted in who he was. He didn't speak much, but his actions always spoke louder than words. He had a giving heart, a sharp mind, and a presence that made people feel safe and seen. He found joy in the simple things like working on trucks, picking his numbers for the lottery, and grabbing a Pepsi at Wawa. He carried himself with pride, but those who knew him understood that beneath that quiet exterior was a deeply compassionate man who cared in his own meaningful way.
The most powerful connection in his life was with Jawaan Thomas, his godson in title but his son in every way that truly mattered. Their bond was unbreakable, rooted in love, respect, and mutual devotion. Heavy's role in Jawaan's life was constant and unconditional, and the love was returned just as strongly.
Heavy was a good man who was genuine, grounded, and full of heart. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on in the lives he quietly and powerfully shaped.
He leaves to cherish his memory, brothers James A. Robinson and Michael L. Robinson; sister Nadine R. Robinson; nephew Ricky Robinson; godson Jawaan Thomas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Heavy’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
Professional services have been entrusted to the staff of Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185. 757-229-3011 whitingsfuneralhome.com
