Clyde Foster

Clyde Foster  departed this earthly life on Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Patriots Colony  at Williamsburg.  He was the fifth of eight children born to the late Johnnie and Evoria Foster on December 8, 1942, in Emporia, VA. 

Clyde was educated in the Greenville County Public Schools.  At the age of 14, he relocated to the Williamsburg area and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg.  He was employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and Eastern State Hospital.  He later established his own business, “Clyde Concrete” providing his services for over forty years. 

Clyde met Carolyn Piggott in 1959 and married on June 24, 1962.  Unto this union, they were blessed with one loving son. 

Clyde enjoyed and loved fishing and rooting for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.  He was a jovial soul who loved spending time with his family and many friends. He loved spending “quiet time” sitting in his backyard shed, watching his favorite soap operas, “The Young and The Restless” and “The Bold and Beautiful”.   

Clyde was preceded in death by his three sisters, Lillie Dillard, Christine Foster, and Delcenia Dove; and two brothers, Willie Foster and Herbert Foster. 

His fond memories will always be cherished by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Carolyn; his son Ross Foster; grandchildren, who called him “Clyde” or “Granddad”, Devin Foster, Whitney Foster, and Brian Saunders; great-grandchildren, Noah Foster and Arrah Foster; brother Johnnie Elijah (Cynthia); sister Gloria Easter; a bonus son Vincent Ashby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

A service to celebrate Clyde's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg,  Mr. Foster may be viewed on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church.
