Daniel "Bucky" Jackson Obituary

On Monday, March 1, 2021, Daniel Junior Jackson affectionately known as “Bucky” entered into eternal rest at VCU-MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA. Daniel Junior began his life on April 6, 1951, to the late Daniel and Geraldine Jackson.

Bucky was a member of the James Blair graduating class of 1969 and entered Virginia State University that same year. He was a member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Spring Line of 72 Revolution of the Mind.  He was married to Zelma Maine-Jackson and from that union, they were blessed with one son, Kawane Logito Jackson.

Bucky was a roadrunner early in life but rededicated his life to Christ 27 years ago and has worked diligently to improve his life and honor God. During his career, he worked various jobs pouring concrete driveways, sidewalks, and patios. He especially enjoyed his job as a waiter for the King’s Arms Tavern interacting with guests. He retired on July 1, 2014, after 23 years of dedicated service.

He was a fun-loving kindhearted person; warm and welcoming to everyone he met. Even when he was sick, Bucky smiled and tried to cheer you up. He was a jokester who loved to tell jokes that may or may not have been funny.

He was an avid chess player and really enjoyed playing with Greg White, Leroy Lucas, Donald and Anderton Ellis, Derek Dunn, Floyd Washington, Ronald Ellis, Doug Gross, Floyd Bouldin and others. Trash talking was the name of the game. Bucky was also a golf enthusiast and played as often as he could before his health began to decline. He enjoyed fishing with his cousins, Ronald and Rex Ellis. You would have thought they were the only ones that knew how to catch fish. They often bragged about who caught the most.

Bucky leaves to cherish fond memories with his son, Kawane L. Jackson of Kennewick, WA.; granddaughter, Amariah Calah Jackson; great-grandson, Nehemiah Jackson of Kennewick, WA.; sister, Arlene Gill (Eric, deceased) of Los Angeles, CA.; brother, Melvin D. Jackson of Williamsburg, VA.; nephews, Damian D. Gill (Carla); Devin T. and Dylan D. Gill, all of Anaheim, CA.; nieces, Shanika D. Jackson of McLeansville, NC., Shanell D. Jackson-Felder (Kevin); great niece, Lauryn N. Felder of Baltimore, MD., and Leila R. Gill of Anaheim, CA., beloved aunts; Mildred Jones (Lewis) and Queen E. Parker, both of Surry, VA., Cora M. Fields of Virginia Beach, VA., and Minister Mary C. Ellis of Williamsburg, VA, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
