On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, God sent a host of angels to the MICU Unit of Riverside Regional Medical Center, to bring unto Himself, Darrin Ezell Hailey for everlasting rest. Darrin was born on May 17, 1967, to Jacqueline Braxton-Marrow and the late Wardell Hailey, in Williamsburg, VA.
At an early age, Darrin accepted Christ and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg, VA. He was a Class of 1985 graduate of Lafayette High School. After graduating, he pursued a career in foodservice. He worked as a Chef at the Colonial Pancake Restaurant, retiring after thirty years of tireless services.
On April 13, 1996, Darrin was united in holy matrimony to the former Jennifer Armstead, and unto this union, they were blessed with two children.
Darrin was a serious Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved attending all of the William & Mary Football games. He was famous for his yearly birthday celebrations where he would roast a pig at his sister's home on Government Road in Williamsburg.
Darrin was preceded in death by his father, Wardell Hailey; grandmother, Gussie Judkins; sister, Elnora Rhodall; and brother, Don Hailey. His precious memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Jennifer; children, Xavier and Chrystal Armstead; granddaughter, Xarihana Armistead; mother, Jacqueline Hailey Braxton Marrow (George); sisters, Joan Crump, Brenda Black (Anthony), Linda Hailey, and Cleo Johnson (Charles); brothers, David Hailey and Bryant Hailey (Shirley); step-sisters, Roselee Armistead (Phil), Carolyn Cary (John), Joyce Braxton (Hampton), Roslin Braxton, Janie Braxton, Michael Marrow (Cleveland), and George Marrow Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Thomas, Melissa King (Jerome), and Cynthia Williams; special friend, Jennifer Carroll; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, October 30, 2021, in Whiting's Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Mr. Hailey may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his service. Facial coverings are required at all services.
