Deacon Vincent Pearson Obituary

On Sunday morning, December 10, 2023, God called home one of his faithful servants, Deacon Vincent Timothy Pearson, affectionately known as “Tim”, surrounded by his honey “Bug” and his devoted children in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Tim was born on September 19, 1958, to the late Deacon Joseph H. Pearson, Sr. and the late Deaconess Maurice D. Pearson-Ratcliffe, of James City County, VA. He was one of four children preceded in death by his only brother, Deacon Joseph H. "Boy" Pearson Jr.

Tim was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School and graduated from Lafayette High School in the class of 1976.

In 1976, Tim met the woman of his dreams Drucilla “Bug” Bartlett at the William & Mary Hall.  They were united in holy matrimony on August 25, 1979. and enjoyed 44 years of marital bliss.

Tim was employed at the William and Mary bookstore for approximately eighteen years and later continued his employment with Barnes and Noble Bookstore as a textbook manager for twenty-four years.

In his youth, Tim accepted Christ and joined his family church Little Zion Baptist Church.  He was a dedicated member attending Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and church services.  His dedication to Christ led to his call to serve in the Diaconate Ministry on March 12, 2023.  He was faithful to serve until his physical health would no longer allow him to do so. This did not stop him from seeking fellowship with the people of God. He continued to attend worship services and bible study via Zoom with his home church, as well as attending virtual bible study with Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Montgomery, AL under the leadership of Elder Timothy Wells. Tim was affectionally known to the Gospel Tabernacle as “Pop Pearson” and they looked forward to his presence.  He enjoyed sharing the love of Christ with those he came in contact with, always giving God the praise.

Tim enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, attending Bike Week in Florida and Myrtle Beach, fishing, but most of all spending time with family and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.  He was not one to complain and was a humble man with a calm and quiet demeanor. Tim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of forty-four years, Drucilla R. Pearson; daughter, Jessica Pearson Scott; son, Jeremiah Joseph Pearson; loving grandson, Gavin Daniel Scott; goddaughter, Charnel Thornton (Marlon) of Gloucester, VA; two sisters, Dorothy Mason (Ray) of Brooklyn, NY, and Agnes C. Roberts of Williamsburg, VA; two brothers-in-law, Walter "PeeWee" Oliver and Alfred "AJ" Richards, both of Newport News, VA; one sister-in-law, Gloria Mason (Lynn) of Hampton, VA; special friends, Jim Templeman, and Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Forster, all of Gloucester, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Little Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Deacon Pearson may be viewed in the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his services.
