Deloris Jones Piggott

On Saturday October 31, 2020, Deloris Jones Piggott, peacefully slipped on her angel wings and left this earthly life to be with the love of her life the late Phillip Edward Piggott, Sr.  She was born on July 23, 1940, the youngest of ten siblings to the late Carrie and Garnett Jones Sr., in York County.

She was educated in the York County Public School System; graduating from James Weldon Johnson High School.  At an early age, Deloris confessed Christ as her Savior and joined Zion Baptist Church, Lightfoot.

On September 28, 1959, Deloris was joined in Holy Matrimony with Phillip E. Piggott Sr.  This lovely union was blessed with three beautiful children.

She was employed by the Hospitality House, Eastern State Hospital, and the Holiday Inn; retiring after thirty-two years of service.

Her favorite past time was cooking, shopping, attending church and loving on her family.

“Lois”, as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her only granddaughter, Shantay Smith; sisters, Alice Smith, Myrtle Scott, Ethel Raymond, Gracie Richardson, Ella Morton, Beulah Jones, Mattie Foster, and Woodruth Patterson; and brother, Garnett Jones, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Sandra Johnson, Beulah Smith and Phillip Piggott Jr.; her grandsons, William Smith Jr., Dontay Smith, and Malcolm Lee; great-granddaughter, Makari Lee; great-grandson, Kai Lee; sisters-in-law, Doris P. Lockley, Theresa Piggott, and Jessie Jones; niece, Jacqueline Clemons and great-niece, Tashawndae “Missy” Baker, who were her caregivers along with Alvin Evans and Warren Walker; special adopted daughters, Barbara Atkins, Jenny Jones and Bernette Piggott, who faithfully about called and stopped by; and a host other caring relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Williamsburg Memorial Park.  Family and friends to assemble at 6111 Mooretown Road by 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.  Face coverings and Social Distancing are required.  You may bring your own lawn chairs for comfort.  At the request of the family, there will be no viewing.
