Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God Matthew 5:8
Dennis Eric Reed, son of Dennis E. Taylor and Raymona A. Shackleford was born on July 19, 1981. On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, in Jacksonville Florida, God gently closed Dennis’s life book. He was raised by his grandmother Blanche N. Reed in Toano, Virginia.
Dennis was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools and graduated from Lafayette High School. At an early age, he joined Chickahominy Baptist Church and sang in the choir. “Spoon Bread”, as he was affectionately known, was kind and had a gentle spirit who was loved by all he met. His smile would melt your heart. Dennis loved to travel and in the midst of his travels Jacksonville, FL became his home.
He was preceded in death by his loving grandfather, Raymond Junior Reed. Left to cherish fond memories are his loving maternal grandmother, Blanche N. Reed; paternal grandmother, Hazel Taylor; four aunts, four uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, three nieces, three nephews; and a host of cousins, other loving relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the start of the service.
