Dequane Christopher Johnson

On Thursday, November 12, 2020, Dequane Christopher Johnson entered into eternal rest.  He was born on October 4, 1996, son of Christopher Johnson and Danielle Allen, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

He was a resident of Newport News, Virginia and attended Newport News Public Schools.

Dequane was a loving son, brother, uncle and an outstanding father who left an undeniable mark upon the hearts of many. He will be remembered for his love of life and passion for others. He was a dedicated, hard worker, and his personality brought plenty of joy and laughter into everyone he encountered, especially children.  His humor was unique, and he will forever be cherished.

Through many trials and tribulations, Dequane never lost his compassion and love for people. Dequane had a great love for basketball and spent much of his past time socializing, fishing, and singing. His ultimate joy was spending time with “the little ones”. Dequan never judged anyone; instead, he accepted everyone as they were. He always showed concern and love for those he cared about even if it was just a brief phone call.

Dequane was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Johnson, and brother, Alan Jr.  He leaves to cherish, celebrate, and continue his legacy his son, Major; mother, Danielle Allen (Darnell); his life father, Alan Simpson; maternal grandmother, Juanita Askew; maternal grandfather, Gregory Askew; paternal grandmother, Mary Johnson; paternal grandfather, Darlyn Allen; brother, Darren; sister: Nashay; nephews, Kaden and Kadir; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Mr. Johnson may be viewed from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, in Whiting’s Funeral Home.  A graveside committal will take place at 2:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
