Derrick Piggott peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, after battling a long illness. His life began on August 28, 1970, the son of Rufus and Janice Piggott formerly of Williamsburg, VA.
Derrick attended York County Public Schools and was a graduate of Bruton High School. At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ and joined St. John Baptist Church, Penniman Road, Williamsburg.
Derrick’s favorite pastimes were fishing, working on cars, hanging out with friends, and watching his favorite football team, the Miami Dolphins. He loved his family and friends and always looked forward to the holidays because he knew he would be surrounded by them. He was always the first one at the dinner table. Derrick had a fun personality and would keep his family entertained with his sense of humor. We will miss him greatly but rejoice knowing he is in the arms of Jesus.
Derrick leaves to cherish precious memories with his son, Shemar Simons; parents, Rufus and Janice Piggott; sister, Ayrwanda Watson (Troy); nephew, Miles Watson; niece, Maya Watson; aunts Carolyn Foster (Clyde) and Dianne Braxton (Herman); cousins, Ross Foster, Sharon Marsh (Reno), Katrina Wise (Brian), and Derwin Braxton; close friends, Bruce McMiller and Tommy and Cathy Brown; as well as a host of other loving relatives and caring friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Live stream will be available at the beginning of the service. Facial coverings are required.
