Don McNeil Carter Sr.

Don M. Carter Sr. whose life was lived to the fullest, earned his heavenly crown on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Having fought the good fight, and having finished the race, he peacefully went to his eternal home with the Lord in Ashland, VA. Don was born on April 6, 1944, the son of the late George S. Carter and Gussie Eva Jordan, in Williamsburg, VA.  That is how the wonderful life story of Don M. Carter Sr. began. 

As a graduate of Bruton Heights High School, Don started his career and real passion with Person Motors.  This was the first of many automotive jobs.  Don had a host of jobs that took him from Virginia to Nevada; such as the College of William & Mary, Nuttycomb Motors, James River, and finally retiring from  Groomes Transportation. He had a love for music, cars, and women.  He was a man who never met a stranger and was known by everyone in Williamsburg, Charles City, Richmond, and Washington DC. His "True Love" was his family. 

He is also preceded in death by brothers, Robert Lynn Carter and Ronnie E. Carter.

Don's legacy will live on through his daughters, Ladawn Brodrick, Charmaine Carter, and Alison Carter; his only son Don Carter Jr.; beloved grandkids, Bria Carter, Chris Carter, Emontae Bodrick, Chameira Abernathy, Nasir  Jones, and Nasira Richardson; three great-grandchildren Cole Franklin, Queen Franklin, and Andra  Franklin; sisters, Theresa Piggott,  Marva Velma Dabney, Barbra Ann Jones, and Jaquelyn Marrow; brother Louis Carter; and a host of loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

He WILL FOREVER BE LOVED AND MISSED!!  

A funeral service to celebrate Don's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg, VA. Mr. Carter may be viewed in the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of his service.
